Description

The Geraldton Combined Equestrian Club July Show Classic offers competitions to both EA and PCWA riders with two arenas, South Arena for EA Competitors only and North Arena, being run in conjunction with Moonyoonooka Horse & Pony Club.

Veterinary and farrier costs incurred at this event are the responsibility of the rider. 


ENTRIES  

Entries: via Global Entries (globalentries.com.au) close Friday 3 July at 9.00 pm. Payment will be accepted by credit card only at the time of nomination on Global. An entry is not fully valid and will not hold you a position until your entry is paid in full. Entries not paid by FRIDAY 3 July at 9.00 pm will be deleted from the entry list. 

Emergency Contact at Event

When nominating, enter your Emergency Contact which is the name and number of the person who will be at the event and prepared to assist if you are unable to continue being responsible for the care of your horse. This person should be responsible for contacting your next of kin. 

Waitlists

If the class you wish to compete in is full, email showjumping@gcec.org.au with rider’s full name, horse’s show name, the class number, name and the height of the class you wish to be entered in. We will do our best to accommodate all riders.

Late entries 

Late entries, if accepted after the closing date, will incur a $30 administration fee. Contact showjumping@gcec.org.au to negotiate late entries.

Withdrawals / Refunds

Withdrawals must be made via showjumping@gcec.org.au (do not delete nominations on Global Entries). Withdrawals prior to the event closing will receive a full refund less $30 administration fee. Withdrawals after the closing date will require a medical or vet certificate and only your entry fee and EWA levy will be refunded.

Scratchings / Changes during the event

Scratchings and class changes must be made by 4pm the day prior, at the office.

Refused entries / Cancelled events

GCEC reserves the right to refuse any entry. GCEC reserves the right to cancel, suspend or postpone events due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The organisers will endeavour to refund riders for unused class entry fees and return a portion of other fees when possible and as deemed appropriate. A $20 non-refundable fee will be retained regardless to help offset event costs.


RULES  

EA Classes

Are run under EA National Jumping Rules and Regulations and are for EA members only. Rules can be found at https://www.equestrian.org.au/jumping-rules 

Riders must check that their EA membership is correct for the level that they are competing at. 

Please ensure that you have a minimum of a base registration for horses competing 1.04m or below as per the new EA ruling.

Horses competing in the 1.05m classes and above must be registered and have a current competition License.

EA Rider and Horse membership numbers must be supplied upon registration and available for sighting throughout the course of the competition. 


PCWA Classes

Classes will be run under PCA and EA Show Jumping Rules effective January 1st, 2025, and PCA Gear Checking rules. 

Open Pony Club members who are current Junior / Senior / Adult or Open Rider financial members of a Pony Club affiliated with Pony Club WA. 

Riders under Junior or Senior membership ride in Pony Club competition uniform and Adult or Open membership ride in competition attire.

Competitors must present for Gear Checking.

Pony Club Membership number must be supplied upon registration and available for sighting throughout the course of the competition.


Horse/Rider combinations can only ride under one membership and must choose between EA or PC classes – the Horse/Rider combination cannot switch between EA and PC membership throughout the weekend.


Off the Track Classes (OTT)

Open to Off the Track WA-registered Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds, whether or not they have raced. Race name, competition name and Passport ID Number MUST be supplied on entry. 


General

Horse/Rider combinations may only enter one of the consecutive lettered classes. Eg Riders may only enter class 2A OR 2B, but not both.

Only riders and horses/ponies who are entered in the July Show Jumping Classic are permitted to ride on the grounds.

All riders must wear an EA-approved, tagged helmet. This tag verifies that the helmet complies with current safety standards.


Number of classes allowed per horse per day

South Arena: Horse and rider combinations are limited to two classes per day.

North Arena: Horse and rider combinations are limited to three classes per day.

UNLESS horse and rider combination is competing in both North and South Arenas. Then they are restricted to one class in the North Arena on the day they compete in both North and South Arenas.


Fees / Rebates

EWA Levy: $4 per competitive round up to a maximum of $24 per day per rider.

PC Levy: $3 per competitive round.

Medical Levy: $12 per rider per day

Ground Fee: $10 per horse per day

Helper Fee: $50 per rider (see more in Helpers / volunteers)

Travel Rebate: Off the Track WA are offering a 30% rebate on OTTWA class entries that live 150kms from Geraldton and start in the July event. The 150kms will be calculated as the shortest route on Google maps from your residential postcode (as listed on Global Entries) to the Geraldton postcode.


PRIZES

  • Prize money and prizes as per National Jumping Rules. 
  • Prize money will not be distributed at the event and will be paid to competitors after the event. 
  • Rosettes will be presented to the winners and placegetters of all classes.
  • The committee reserves the right to change, cancel or alter events and prizes at its discretion.

Horseland Perth are proudly supporting champion rugs for:

  • Class 12 105-110cm Amateur (South Arena) 

Rider must be 21 years and over; Maximum height of the first round will be 110cm, there will be a maximum height rise of 10cm for the jump-off; In the past 10 years rider must not have competed in a World Cup or Olympic event; Rider must not have competed in a Section 1 or 2 at any Royal Show; Rider is not eligible should they be starting in a class over 120cm (first round advertised height) at this event.

  • Best Performed Horse and Rider Combination (North Arena) 

Points will be allocated as follows: 1st place: 6 points, 2nd place: 5 points, 3rd place: 4 points, 4th place: 3 points, 5th place: 2 points, 6th place: 1 point.


Ross Newman is proudly supporting the Ross Newman Perpetual Trophy:

  • Awarded to the best performed Geraldton competitor in Ring 1; winner will receive the Perpetual Trophy + a trophy to keep. 
  • Points will be accumulated over the three days of competition and the winner will be the rider with the least points (eg. 7th place will be awarded 7 points, 10th place will be awarded 10 pts)


HELPERS 

It is a condition of entry that all riders provide a helper and this information is provided at time of entry. This event requires one helper duty to be completed per rider over the three days of competition to assist with the running of a successful event. 

A $50 helper duty bond per rider is to be added at the time of entry, this is refundable through Global after the competition. Upon completion of your helper duty you must present to the office to be marked as completing your helper duty. If this is not done your helper duty bond will be retained by GCEC. If you select ‘No Help’ you will not receive a refund. NOTE: there is a limited number of helper duties and if you are not allocated a job there will be no refund of the helper duty bond.

Job preferences as submitted on online entry will be considered but not guaranteed. All helper duties will be approximately 2-3 hours and may take place while your child/partner etc is riding.


REFRESHMENTS  

The canteen will be located at Woorree Hall throughout the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast, morning tea and lunch available. Canteen opens 7.30am and closes 3pm.

Coffee van will be onsite over the course of the event.

A licensed bar will be available Friday (12-6pm), Saturday (12-9pm) and Sunday (12-6pm) from the old club rooms. Please note minors are permitted in the bar area only while accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.


SATURDAY NIGHT MEAL

Burgers at the bar will be available on Saturday night. More details will be published on our Facebook page, no need to book/pay ahead of time. No BYO drinks.


CAMPING / PARKING 

Camping is available on the grounds with toilet and shower facilities available. 

Parking will be under the direction of the Organising Committee. Competitors who fail to park in the correct designated area WILL be asked to move. Please refer to the site map.

Gates and access points – to remain closed / chain up at all times.

No power is provided at this event so bring your own if needed. Generators MUST be turned off between the hours of 10pm and 6am. 

No fires are permitted.

Dogs

Dogs must be on a lead at all times. Dogs are not permitted into the canteen, bar, competition or warm-up areas.

Rubbish

Competitors are asked to ensure their area is left free of litter.   

Manure

Do not place manure around the trees.

Yards

Please bring your own yards if possible. Yards must be made according to the EWA rules. Please do not erect yards in front of club yards or hosing bays.

A limited number of yards are available for the weekend. Yards can be booked via email, on a first come first served basis, priority given to travelling competitors. Yards will not be allocated until entry fees are received. Please contact showjumping@gcec.org.au to reserve. 


STALLIONS

Stallions must clearly display a green disc at all times when they are on the grounds and abide by the stallion code of conduct. It is recommended that riders and handlers of stallions at shows be over the age of 17years; however, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to understand the full code of conduct for stallions at events. Stallions are to be yarded on the southern end of the grounds and are not permitted beyond the warm-up area of the South Arena.
