Description

The ACT Showjumping Club is proud to host the 2026 Canberra Cup at Equestrian Park on the 18th and 19th April 2026.

Entries will Open on Wednesday 8th April at 7pm for ALL CURRENT FINANCIAL MEMBERS OF ACT SHOWJUMPING CLUB. General entries will open on Wednesday 1st April at 7pm. 

Entries close on Wednesday 15th April at 7pm. 

- All entries and yard bookings must be completed and booked through global entries online

- Each horse may have maximum of 2 starts per day on both Saturday and Sunday (excluding the 6-bar)

- All rings start at 8:30am, with course walk at 8am

- Full refund (less 5% admin fee) will be given for all scratchings made prior to close of entries. After entries close a 75% refund will be given on presentation of Vet or Doctors certificate.

- All horses in Ring 1 must be currently registered and hold current performance cards with ENSW (horses entered in just class 1 are exempted from this rule). All riders in Ring 1 must be current financial members of ENSW.

- All riders in Ring 2 must be current financial members of ENSW or ACT Showjumping Club

- TSHA Classes All horses entering the thoroughbred classes must have a TSHA licence.  TSHA licences can be purchased on Global Entries online. Log in to Global Entries and go to "manage horses" to fill in all details and pay for licence.  The microchip number is really important.  It does not matter whether the horse is EA registered with a different name so long as the description and microchip number match.

- Article 255.1 Amateur Rider classes are classes for riders who:

            - Must not have competed in an Olympic Games or World Equestrian Games in either Jumping or eventing

                - In the past 10 years must not have competed in a World Cup for jumping or in a 4* 3 Day event.

                - Must not have competed in Section 1 and 2 at a Royal Show in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth in                 the past two years

                - Amateur riders may not compete in an Amateur class if they compete in any class where the first round is               higher than 1.20m at that show

                - Amateur riders may not compete in an Amateur class on a horse that will compete in any class   where the first round                 is higher than 1.20m at that show

                - Riders may compete as Amateurs from the beginning of the calendar year in which they turn 21 years of age

- Article 255-Junior classes:

                - Juniors: Athletes can take part in Competitions for Juniors until the end of the calendar year, in which they               reach the age of 18 years

- Australian helmet standards will apply. All riders must wear approved boots and helmet whilst mounted including presentations, training, before and after the event. All helmets must be tagged.

- All dogs must be on leads and secured at all times. No dogs are allowed onto the competition arena or practice arenas during the hours of competition.

- All riders competing at this event will be expected to have read these rules and conditions and accept and acknowledge the waiver forms signed with ENSW

- All Draws will be available on Global entries. All classes in each ring will be conducted in draw order. Ring 1 will take priority over ring 2.

- The organising committee reserves the right to amend and part of the program at their discretion.

- Equestrian Park is run by volunteers and its maintenance and development is funded by users. A horse levy of $5 per horse applies.

- A $10 Paramedic levy per rider is payable to help with the costs of having a paramedic at the grounds for the event.

Camping:

- Equestrian Park is being hired for the event and is available for camping from 17th April until 20th April. Camping after that date is also available.

- The minimum camping fee is $20 which will cover up to 3 nights

- A fee of $10 will be charged for each additional night camped. Please speak to the organisers if you wish to stay for a longer period of time.

- There are showers but no powered sites on the ground.

Yards:

- Open yards are available at a cost of $25 per horse for the duration.

- All yards must be booked through Global entries on the stables drop down section 

- BYO yards: Available in the allocated areas. No yards to be built for overnight stay on the road going down to the woolshed. The cost is $10 per horse for the duration . BYO yards must be booked and paid for when doing entries.

 

Safety & Risk Management:

- The ACT Showjumping Club has developed a risk management plan detailing hazards, risks and the control of these specific to the staging of the Canberra Cup at Equestrian Park in Canberra. A copy of this plan and the methods of control which have been enacted may be viewed at the competition office during the competition. All persons attending this event should be aware of potential hazards. In the interests of safety for all, cooperation with ground staff is requested.

- All riders who fall off in the ring, warm up areas or anywhere on Equestrian park must report to the paramedic before remounting (article 240). A fall is defined as an occasion where any part of the rider hits the ground unintentionally whilst they are mounted. All riders must obtain a medical clearance before they can ride again at the event. A horse which incurs a fall must be checked and cleared by a qualified person before it can participate further in the competition 

 

Liability:

Neither the committee nor the venue owner or lessees, nor any of their staff or agents shall be in any way liable for accident, injury, damage, loss or any matter that may happen for any causes or circumstances whatsoever to exhibitors, competitors or members or their agents or to anyone on the grounds or to any animal or articles exhibited or to any property brought onto the grounds or for any loss, claim, matter, circumstances or event whatsoever in connection with or arising out of the conduct of the event by or understood to be associated with the ACT Showjumping Club Inc. or any journey to or from the event. It is to be understood that under no circumstances shall the committee, its agents, or employees be liable for any loss, damages, claims or costs occasioned or suffered by any exhibitor, competitor or member directly or indirectly, howsoever arising, including without limitation, losses, damages, claims or costs as a result of any negligence and by attending the venue and entering any class you agree to indemnify and save harmless the committee, the ACT Showjumping Club Inc. , the venue owner, lessees, their agents and employees from and against any liability about of any such loss, damages, claims or costs. 

Class Description:

Article 245.3               Previously known as AM7, one round with immediate jump off

If specified in the Schedule the OC may decide that Athletes, who have completed their preliminary round without Penalties, must proceed to the jump-off immediately following their preliminary round. In this case, the bell must be rung again to signal the Athlete to start the jump-off course during which the 45 second rule set forth in JRs Art. 203.1.2. applies. Athletes, qualified for the jump-off, are not allowed to leave the arena, between their preliminary round and the jump-off. This type of jump-off is only allowed for Competitions under Table A, according to Art. 238.1.2 and 238.2.2 and is not authorised for a Grand Prix Competition or for the Competition with the highest prize money. If there are no clear rounds in the preliminary round, the classification is established according to Art. 238.1.1 or 238.2.1 as applicable.

Article 238.2.2            Previously known as the AM5, one round with a Jump Off

This is a Competition against the clock, but in the event of equality of Penalties for first place, there will be one jump-off against the clock. Other Athletes are placed according to their Penalties and time in the first round. For minor Competitions the jump-off may be run according to Table C, if thus provided in the Schedule.

2. Special Two-Phase Competition

2.1 This Competition comprises two phases run without interruption, each at an identical or different speed, the finishing line for the first phase being identical with the starting line for the second phase.
